A man has been sentenced to five years in federal prison following a scheme that he called “scary” and “unroversial.”
Tara A. O'Connor was sentenced on April 27, 2019. She was arrested on January 25, 2021.
O’Connor admitted to possession of a tablet of Viagra and to having a prescription for the drug in 2021. O’Connor also pleaded guilty to conspiracy and to sell counterfeit and fake Viagra.
The U. S. Food and Drug Administration has not yet approved the sale of counterfeit Viagra or the sale of counterfeit medications.
A court in Vancouver, British Columbia, ordered O'Connor to pay $1.2 million in restitution and a $6.9 million criminal fine in 2016.
She was sentenced to five years in federal prison. She faces a total of 14 years in federal prison, with a maximum penalty of five years in federal prison and a maximum fine of $5,000 for each day she was sentenced.
A trial has been scheduled for June 20, 2023.

“I am a very sad person and I am deeply disappointed in the court’s decision,” O'Connor said in a statement.
“This was a very small sentence for me.”
